When it comes to luxurious residences, few people have it better than celebrities. Thanks to their incredible wealth, celebrities are able to invest in homes the likes of which most of us can barely imagine. While normally reserved for the rich and famous, occasionally these homes hit the market and are available for anyone, famous or not, with a couple of million dollars lying around to buy.
Below are ten of the most luxurious celebrity mansions in the world. The vast majority of us will never live in anything nearly as spectacular, but it sure is fun to see.
1. Ozzy Osbourne’s Hidden Hills Home
Tucked away in Hidden Hills, California, this $10 million mansion is currently home to Black Sabbath’s lead singer Ozzy Osbourne. At just under 11,000 square feet, it consists of six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. This is the kind of home that being the “Godfather of Heavy Metal” and a reality TV star will net you. Mann Estate and Letting Agents has a great post to read on similarly extravagant homes.
2. Will Smith’s Calabasas Home
Calabasas is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in California. And Will Smith is just one of many celebrities to call it home. Yet his $20 million mansion sure sticks out. With basketball courts and a private golf course, it truly is a feat of extreme luxury. Indeed, the property is so big it even has its very own zip code.
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Brentwood County Home
Clocking in at $23.5 million, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 14,500 square foot mansion is an exercise in luxury. It dominates the landscape of Brentwood County, California with its imposing size. This actor turned politician sure has made the most out of his fame and fortune.
4. Christie Brinkley’s Long Island Home
Moving from California across the country to New York we come across Christie Brinkley’s $30 million Long Island home. The successful supermodel’s expansive mansion consists of eleven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Yet the highlight is the 50-foot tall observation deck.
5. Jerry Seinfeld’s The Hamptons Home
The Hamptons are home to some of the most expensive and luxurious homes in the world. Among the area’s wealthy homeowners is none other than Jerry Seinfeld. Star of the world famous self-titled sitcom “Seinfeld,” the actor and comedian was able to invest $32 million into this elegant mansion. Because that’s just not enough, the property comes equipped with its own private baseball field.
6. Billy Joel’s Miami Beach Home
While the majority of celebrities seem to live in California or New York, Billy Joel is one that prefers to call sunny Florida home. Located on the exclusive La Gorce Island, the outstanding mansion comes with its own pier, boat slip, and swimming pool. Estimated to be worth about $35 million, the property has popped up onto the market several times in the past few years.
7. Hugh Hefner’s Los Angeles Home
Known by most as the Playboy Mansion, Hugh Hefner’s Los Angeles residence simply oozes luxury. The $54 million property consists of a swimming pool, wine cellar, game room, and private tennis courts. But that’s not all. A zoo and an aviary are also located on the Playboy Mansion’s expansive grounds.
8. Oprah Winfrey’s Montecito Home
Oprah Winfrey, known by most simply as Oprah, has owned incredibly luxurious houses around the globe. But perhaps the most stunning of all is her Montecito, California mansion. At $85 million, calling the mansion huge is an understatement. It contains 6 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. There are 10 separate fireplaces dotting the residence. Oprah has even installed a manmade lake for her collection of exotic fish. Yet despite the incredible amount of money that’s gone into this property, Oprah still continues to give back to others.
9. Bill Gate’s Medina Home
$147.5 million sure is a lot to spend on a home. Yet that’s exactly what Microsoft founder Bill Gates was able to do. With a total area of over 66,000 square feet, the mansion is something like a miniature city. Interestingly the mansion is situated in Medina, a suburb of Microsoft’s headquarters Seattle, a far cry from the likes of California and New York.
10. Aaron Spelling’s Los Angeles Home
It’s hard to call a home worth $150 million a home. It’s hard to even call it a mansion. Yet Aaron Spelling seems pretty comfortable in his outrageously expensive Los Angeles mansion. Decked out with the ultimate in luxurious touches, the 56,000 square foot property comes with 4 garages, an orchard, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a skating rink, and a bowling alley. With a home like that, there really is no reason to ever leave.
There is something fun about peeling back a layer on the world’s wealthiest celebrities to see where they live. Indeed, it’s amazing that the ten homes we looked at above are really even homes. Today’s celebrities really do live in a world that is far removed from the realities that most of us deal with on a day-to-day basis.
