Many people think “White Knight” automatically means a man comes along and saves you from yourself.
He pays all your bills. He’s financially secure (and then some!) and he is lovingly generous.
But a White Knight can mean many things to different people, and come in many forms.
However I am here to repeat ad nauseum:
There is no perfect, rich, generous, loyal, man.
There is no perfect job that ever seems to pay enough.
There is no magic solution to the mess.
There is no incredible bank mix-up.
There is no long lost inheritance.
There is no White Knight.
There is only you.
You save yourself in this world.
Or at the very least, create a great cushion in case you fall.
You have to make sure your bills get paid, on time, on a budget, without incurring additional fees.
You have to track your expenses & make cuts accordingly.
You have to set a retirement plan in place for yourself so that you don’t end up a bag lady.
You have to turn yourself from being blissfully ignorant to financially savvy.
No one else is going to do it for you – your family, friends, boyfriend, or banker.
And even if they could and would do it for you, bad things do happen and people do change.
They fall in and out of love, they divorce and nothing is ever for certain.
No one will swoop in, take you under their wing, and make it all go away.
Very beautifully said!
Sometimes there is a White Knight that comes and saves you from yourself and is financially secure and pays all your bills and is lovingly generous. In fact, I found him – or he found me, I should say. But I am definitely the fortunate few with this. The problem now is, what if some form of a disaster hits and I no longer have my White Knight? I need to be self-sufficient to protect myself from the what-ifs and for my own sense of pride.
Yes there are.
Bingo!
Waitt… there are women who actually think this? If there are, I now appreciate my Asian upbringing very very much.
Amen, sister!
No truer words have ever been spoken!
