Singapore had some interesting shops, but overall, it wasn’t worth the long haul there.
That said.. lovely advertisements and interesting shops were everywhere.

It’s well known in the region that Singaporean housewives abuse their Indonesian and Malaysian maids. Read plenty of horror stories in newspapers. So those books do actually serve a purpose 🙂 And those beautifully colored flats are HDBs and absolutely crammed and disgusting on the inside.
That’s horrible! 🙁
Good to know that they’re not as pretty on the inside as they are on the outside!
That’s such a broad generalization. First of all, most of the domestic helpers are from Indonesia and Phillipines. There are hardly, if any, Malaysian domestic helpers. Yes like in all societies, there are bad eggs and horrible employers and Singapore is no exception. If its really that bad, nobody would want to work in Singapore as domestic helpers. Or the Indonesian and Phillipines governments would stop their citizens from coming to Singapore to work.
As for the HDB flats, again untrue as there are many sizes mostly ranging from about 900 square feet to 1500 square feet. Compared to other cities like Hong Kong and Tokyo, these sizes would be considered luxurious. I don’t know what is your definition of disgusting, but I used to stay in one HDB flat for about 10years and I don’t considered it disgusting. In fact, most Singaporeans are quite house proud and they spend quite a bit on interior decoration. I am not even sure you have even stepped into a HDB flat.

The girl in picture #8 is Michelle Chong. She is a talented local Singaporean actress. Baberalla is one of the many personas she take on in a comedy current affairs program, The Noose. As Baberalla, she is poking fun at a real life Singaporean beauty queen who is superficial and speaks with a really queer accent, even by Singapore’s standard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBNu3Bwskd0
She is very good with impersonating people with different accents. Here you can see her as a presenter Adrianna Wow and Leticia Bongnino, a Filipino domestic helper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrZwVdjRJiw&feature=related
Oh cool!!! Thanks for the insight. I had a feeling she was supposed to be superficial and so on but I was not sure of the context.
i love your travel fotos!! 🙂
