Hong Kong had such an interesting vibe.
I loved the huge signs in the streets, and the whole city was incredible.
I know they’re using the word like in Latin, but still. *childish giggle*

The “obsession” with pale skin carries over to other countries as well. I am Hong Kong Cantonese (Chinese) living in California and the women in my family are avid users of SPF and have tried “whitening” products. The SPF part is safe and healthy. The “whitening” products can be dangerous if one uses a product with bleaching agent. The safe “whitening” products are actually brightening, and do try to help with alleviating spots. I like to use them to lighten acne spots from healing pimples. Brightening products exfoliate, and are good for all skins. They also try to lighten their dark spots (I don’t know if these are different than freckles, which my brother has).
The pale skin thing is good to make people use their SPF, but the bleaching part is dangerous. Not potentially dangerous. Just flat out dangerous.
I also find the pale skin thing refreshing compared to Westerners’ “obsession” with tan skin.
Avoid the sun and use your SPF!! 🙂
I definitely use SPF as much as I can. I don’t like to tan because of the damage I know it does to my skin, although I am aware that we need Vitamin D from the sun + calcium to be in my body.
I think what I like is that people embrace whatever skin colour they are, white, or whatever shade of brown and black.
It was really freaky to see a pale white face and brown neck/body/skin in Asia. Some girls TOTALLY scared me with their ghost face and brown bodies.
