If you want to see more photos of the Singaporean Botanical Gardens, head on over to my other blog — The Everyday Minimalist to see Botanical Garden Photos.
These gardens were free, except for the Orchid Garden (pictures to follow next week).
I LOVED it, even though it was super humid.

Hello from probably your only reader from Singapore! I should check this blog more often, could have given you an enormous list of sightseeing and food recommendations to save a little bit of disappointment.
The basics for future visits and other people’s visits 🙂
– Follow the locals to find out where people eat. There are super cheap gems everywhere – in hawker centres and basement foodcourts.
– Singapore is like starter Asia, but it has its own authentic culture that takes time to unearth (hang out in a Geylang coffee shop, Arab Street shisha cafe or Little India in the evening…). It’s not going to be in your face, and if you just visit the tourist spots, touristy stuff is all you’re going to get.
– There are secret and not-so-secret pockets of wild spaces – Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, the organic farms and farm cafes at Kranji, and the even smaller island of Pulau Ubin.
– And of course the shopping is great (but I don’t really like shopping so can’t give good recommendations on that).
I went to all those places you’ve listed, including Kembangan at night (the
satay was quite good).
I still found it disappointing, unfortunately.
I know the food is cheap, but so is the quality, which is why I’m
disappointed. Sure, it’s $3 for a meal or $5 for a meal ,but what you get is
crap.
I love the red dragonfly.
I had to sneak up on it with my camera after shushing BF
Wow, i’ve never heard of the botanical gardens in Singapore. Definitely a visit when I’m there next!
We also only saw half of the place. There’s also the Orchid Gardens in the Botanical Gardens coming up. $5 SGD entry.
They had me at the gates. Adding another place to my list.
It’s really beautiful, but humid and sunny!
