In pictures, these are the two major activities I’ve been doing as of late:
(Took this photo when I was in Toronto a while back)
AND
(You knew I had to sneak a little kitten photo in there.)
Also, I can’t stop watching this and laughing. It’s called: Makeup by Omar, where a boyfriend attempts to put on makeup on a beauty blogger:
APRIL = TAXES!!!!!
INCOME: $0
- Didn’t work this month at my full-time job.
- No blog or freelance writing income included. Negligible anyway.
- …actually it’s been a pretty slow and lazy month overall 🙂 Like me!
EXPENSES:
- Not listing business expenses any more — not working the whole year
- I don’t love paying taxes but I don’t hate it either.
Notes:
- Haven’t bought my tickets to travel to Asia yet.
- We are also going back to Europe for the summer.
NET WORTH = $187,798.02 or a -$16,053.87, a 7.87% decrease
Bye Bye $200k net worth. It was nice while it lasted for a month. 🙂
ASSETS
- Cash: $239.86
- Savings: $4961.85
- Emergency Fund: $124,269.17
- Retirement: $58,327.14
DEBTS
- None. And it is damn well gonna stay that way! 🙂
Notes:
- Taxes are part of the difference/drop in net worth
- Investments were up slightly
- Earning about $160 in interest each month on savings
- Holding a lot of liquid cash because we’re leaving
- Networth IQ keeps deleting my account so *shrug* I’m done with them
There. Done with the numbers.

MY PLANS FOR THE YEAR
…are starting to shape up.
After our intense trip to Asia, we’re going to “relax” (HAH!) in Europe for the rest of the summer.
Going back to Portugal and visiting Spain as well (mmm paella!).
Maybe we can also swing by some other countries.
Then I think in late 2011 we’ll travel around the U.S., with my top 2 states being New York and California to visit. 🙂

Any favourite photos or links from above? 🙂
You should come to Louisiana while you’re in the states! Great food & culture, plus cost of living is pretty low =)
I want to try all the great food places I’ve seen on TV from Louisiana 🙂
Ooh, that’s lovely that you’re going back to Europe! Have a great time. I love the young Justice League!
I will 🙂 Thanks!
Love the pictures! I am looking forward to traveling in two months for three weeks. Yeah!!! Portugal sounds awesome. I forgot where you were going to in Asia? I kept my travelling down to Italy, Chicago, Florida and finish with the move to San Antonio.
I thought Canada’s taxes were like 50% of your income? I thought $16k was your taxes but it only represented your overall decrease in net worth.
We’re going to China and Singapore 🙂 It was going to be Japan too but
that’s out.
Canadian taxes are 50% of my income but I don’t take out everything I earn
every year. I pay dividend taxes mostly, and I can control how much I take
out each year as my “income” 🙂
No the $16k is not my taxes. I paid much more than that but my investments
went up to counter some of the payment.
Thanks for the link 🙂
I LOVED the video of the boyfriend doing the makeup. That was absolutely hilarious!
I want Omar to do MORE videos 🙂
Heh! The “A day at Spa” – I don’t think I’ll eat it, but it’s crazy how they can do that with food! Ooo and the Atelier: Aled Lewis… poor bunnies
It makes me not want to eat it, it’s so damn cute.
Thanks for a very interesting post! I like the look of your emergency fund balance 🙂 And I wish my expense report was as low as yours! And a year of travel ~ fun fun fun. Hope you have a good time and can report on your adventures.
That EF definitely lets me sleep easy at night. That, and my expenses…
Back to Portugal? Tell me more 🙂
We’re going there for about a month to hang out. Can’t get enough of the
food and air 🙂
The Justice League picture is so adorable! Your expense looks really nice and low for April. I guess the huge net worth drop is due to tax?
Are all your emergency fund in cash? That’s a lot of cash to have. How come you don’t put some in investment since you already have a cash category?
April is surprisingly low! May will be high, I’m paying for the trip to
Asia, about a $6000 drop.
The net worth drop is definitely due to tax. I paid more than $16,000 in
taxes but my investment increases made up the difference.
I have all my EF in cash because we’re leaving Canada in a few months. I
don’t want to lock in my money into anything 🙂
I hope you have fun on your trip(s)! They sound so exciting.
Thank you! I’ll post pictures, I promise 🙂
I don’t know why, but I always love reading these kind of posts! And your emergency fund… one word… JEALOUS!
Thank you!!
