If I were stranded on an island and could bring only a small subset of beauty products, these would be it.
Naturally, there will also be island events and island work which would require me to bring makeup in the first place…if not, then that’s just silly to bring it.
As of April 2011, this is accurate π I tend to be a disloyal beauty product lover, but so far, these items have been holding their own.
I got Argan oil on your suggestion and I absolutely love it! It makes my face glow!
I am addicted to it now as my moisturizer. A few drops in the morning, at night I add slightly more
My skin has improved greatly
FB,Where do you get the bare minerals from? I’d like to give it a try.
I’m usually naked face with just almond oil +sunscreen. Been thinking about mineral makeup for a while now and I think I’m finall yready for it.
Bare Escentuals is from Sephora <—- this is the one I use
Jane Iredale Minerals are from select retailers but the spa pure and simple
in toronto sells them
Bare minerals can be found at Sephora too I think!
Pur minerals I find in Shoppers drug mart
For all mineral makeup you need to buy a kabuki brush (short, fat full of
bristles). You should shake out a SMALL amount of makeup into the lid, tap
the brush into the makeup and swirl it around to get the powder to evenly
distribute across the bristles, then tap off the excess and start buffing or
brushing the mineral makeup into your cheeks very lightly so that you don't
get an alien shiny masque effect happening <— this is what happened when I
first started trying to wear it.
Thank you, FB! Much appreciate the tips too.
I live in Toronto too and will check at Sephora and Pure&Simple.
In that case, I really recommend the spa Pure and Simple. They have a promo
on this month I’m taking advantage of with the LED lights and facial for
only $99.
Let me know if you have any other questions re: makeup π
I had always been beauty products junkie that I even spent more on them than I spent on food. My desk always cluttered with the latest products ;Now I`d minimize my beauty product ; goat soap, shampoo, deodorant, olive oil (for hair and body scrub) and milk ( face mask, face moisturizer, body mask, lip mask, make up remover). my skin and hair 100x better than before. For make up I only wear face powder and lipstick. I save money, time and sanity.
Awesome list. Question about the tarte cheek stain… Uh. How do you use it? I’ve checked it out before and I always find it a bit… Sticky. And doesn’t look natural when I try it. Do you apply it a certain way?
Have to use it on bare, clean skin, and when you rub it in, it isn’t sticky,
it feels more like a balm that you rub in
It looks really natural. I’ll wear it and show you π
Island events – lol! I know this isn’t your minimalist blog, but thinking minimalist on my skincare has helped save some money. I also like to check http://www.beautypedia.com before I buy anything as it tends to curb the impulse to buy.
*nod nod*
Island events π You know there has to be some for makeup.
Thinking minimalist in all aspects of my life has helped me save money too
π It makes you think: Do I need ANOTHER shade of brown eyeliner? Not
really.
I love Bare Minerals! I just started cleaning my face with castor oil and sunflower oil mix….. I am loving the way it makes my face look and it’s actually clearing up my skin.
I thought about trying castor oil and sunflower oil or olive oil but it
really made me break out (pure olive oil I mean).
Maybe I should try it again.
It’s the castor oil that is the ‘cleansing’ agent. I do the oil cleansing method about once a week or so.
Do you use mascara at all, or just the eyeliners?
I don’t use mascara often just because of what it takes to get it off (a
makeup remover)
That said, if I go to work, I use mascara, but I can do without it as an
essential π
FB! Do you have a favorite dry shampoo per chance?
I used Klorane’s dry shampoo for a while and really liked it. The aerosol
can (sad to say) worked A LOT better than the non-aerosal bottle with the
squeeze pump.
