Love looked like this last night:
(Chicken Wings and Rice)
No you aren’t seeing things.
So how does that equal love?
Well it’s because I was absolutely STARVING on Friday, and my belly was growling for a good 3 hours on the futon couch.
I was prepared to go to bed hungry, because we had nothing left save for what was supposed to be tomorrow’s meal.
I mentioned that my belly wanted something savoury not sweet (or else I would’ve eaten some oatmeal and brown sugar), and BF gets up half an hour later, walks to the kitchen and starts preparing the meal above.
So no, love is not really chicken wings and rice, but the thought behind that meal = C’est l’amour, folks!
On to what I bought today:
You can all thank Little Miss Enabler Arianne for egging me on about Sephora products.
To be fair, I had planned on spending a little bit this month to replenish my stock (winter really takes a toll on your skin), but did she have to mention how beautiful the Urban Decay Rockstar (Deep Purple Eggplant) eyeliner is?
(Swatch from Dazzle and Sparkle)
I took a look at it in the store but (stupidly) decided against it, because I THOUGHT I had a similar colour at home. Turns out, I should have bought this eyeliner.
Really pretty. The one I thought was a dupe was my Marcelle Purple eyeliner that ended up being more dark navy blue in tone, and matte.
Oh well, next time.
I ended up buying my THIRD BOTTLE (unheard of for me!!!) of Korres Body Butter in Japanese Rose.
I’ve tried the following scents and Japanese Rose is the prettiest of them all, which isn’t saying much seeing as the folks at Korres seem to have the knack for coming up with the most foul perfumes in their otherwise wonderful body butters.
- Vanilla and Guava = Smelled like cheap vanilla but it was acceptable
- Basil Lemon = Smells like lemon dishwashing detergent
- Yoghurt = Great initial smell of yoghurt but then it turns into this stomach-churning perfume
- Jasmine = Makes me think of funeral homes. Sorry. 🙁
- Fig = That is NOT the smell of figs in my opinion. AWFUL.
And some Josie Maran Argan Oil (100% no additives) to replace my Skyn Iceland Oxygen Infusion Night Cream
.
The eyedropper thing is kind of weird but I can roll with it.
I tried some on my face and it doesn’t “feel” as good going on as Skyn Iceland Oxygen Infusion Night Cream (my review located here).
That said, it does only take a couple of drops for my entire face, it soaked in nicely, had a light nutty natural smell to it and my skin feels good so far.
I like that it’s way more natural, and I’ll give my verdict after I finish the bottle.
Josie Maran Argan Oil is a legendary oil that’s rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and grown organically in Morocco.
Argan oil is known to have many treatment benefits, including hydrating and nourishing skin, as well as toning and firming. It’s gentle enough to use on all skin types and is believed to help with skin conditions including acne.
I’m also told that it’s great for your hair, but at THAT PRICE? Forget it. This stuff only goes on my face.
Josie Maran Argan Oil doesn’t have:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrance
- Synthetic Dye
- Petro-Chemicals
- Phthalates
What else you need to know:
The oil is housed in a recyclable glass bottle, and purchased from women’s cooperatives in Morocco to support their social and economic welfare. These cooperatives work within a UNESCO biosphere reserve that ensures the protection and reforestation of Argan trees.
So that has been my Saturday. Being enabled and buying a couple of product replacements.
I wholeheartedly agree about the Korres fig scent. I got a travel size bottle of their body wash in that fragrance. Using it up nearly undid me.
I'm looking forward to a full review of the oil. I had a lot of difficulties with the Skyn Iceland stuff sadly 🙁
My recent post Needs vs Wants
I like it so far. If I use more than 2 drops my face feels a bit oily, but my skin has never been softer!!!
Weekend was busy…a friend visited and I had some other stuff going on, so I ended up going out for dinner twice, and out to brunch. But all the restaurants were pretty good, and ones I wanted to try but never got the chance to try before!
You should join Sephora's beauty insider thing…it's free and they are always sending out coupons!
OH don\’t you worry about Sephora\’s revenues, I\’m already on their VIB list 😛 I spent over $450 this year in that store.
Are you Asian? Because that meals looks deliciousss and so Asian!
My recent post John Singer Sargent
The meals WERE delicious!
that eyeliner is a beautiful colour. You should of bought it! I probably would of done the same though…not bought it then wished I did! lol
TOTALLY regretted it. Going back for it in 2011.
Sephora is my kryptonite!
My recent post Dreams Non-Negotiable
And mine too now, with all these darn beauty bloggers after me 😛
Those wings do look an awful lot like love to me! Every once in a while my DBF will do something like that out of the blue for me. Which is really nice considering our insane work schedules!
My recent post New Side Bars!
He\’s really, really kind. 🙂
Aww.. sweet of your hubby! 🙂 Mine doesn't cook… perhaps if I were on my death bed, or after I give birth he'll make me something to eat… other than that, i'm on my own. Hahahaha!!! Probably better that way anyways…. 😉
The eyeliner is very pretty! I wear blush & lipgloss only… lol!! Oh and concealer under my eyes… 4 kids = little sleep! 😉
My recent post Ohhh… the weather outside is frightful!
I usually don\’t wear much which is why eyeliners are important! 😛
I am *SO* with you on what love looks like. 🙂 BF does little things like that for me which make me think "Dang! This is TRUE love!" 🙂 So lucky, aren't we? To me, true love is having him crack and open all of my crab legs because I cannot seem to figure out how to do it properly. I know he loves crab legs, but he patiently helps me crack mine open as well. THAT is true love ! 🙂
My recent post monday mantra
LOL!! He opens and cracks all your crab legs? I love that.
I've been using argan oil shampoo and hair cream for a while, and I really do love it. I haven't tried just the oil, but the two products I use with it in there smell heavenly, make my hair soft and shiny, and are fairly cheap. I heard good things about argan oil from EcoSalon a while ago, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm interested to see how it goes on your skin!
My recent post Sunday Poetry- God Says Yes to Me
Really? I have to try argan oil shampoo. What brand?
I'm waiting for my argan oil to come in the mail (soon, come to me!) I love trying new skincare stuff, I get excited when I run out of my current products so I can try another one like a true nerd.

ME TOO!
I do have to WAIT until my stuff is done though. That takes forever 😛
I have the Josie Maran Argan oil, but only use it on the undereye area. Do you have a recommendation for undereye cream? When this one runs out, I will be in the market for another.
For facial moisturizer I use Cerave Lotion. It's cost effective and makes my face soft and supple without being oily. LOVE the stuff, as well as the hydrating cleanser.
Apparently undereye cream is no different from regular face cream. One cream for the face & the neck, one for the body. I heard any other \’creams\’ for the eyes are just packaged into smaller bottles, slightly more moisturizing and no more effective.
So my only recommendation would be the Argan oil all over my face 🙂 So far it seems to be doing great. My skin feels softer. I still have to use up my Skyn Iceland cream, but I want to test drive the Argan oil for 7-14 days before keeping it and not saying: ARG IT MADE ME BREAK OUT!
Yummy… wings.
I'm planning on cleaning, laundry, making soup, making cookies (maybe), updating budget, and blogging today.
My recent post November Recap
Wow. You\’re packed full of To Dos 🙂
I love reading your blog. I haven't heard of most of the products and I learn so much about the different things out there. It's like City Mouse (toi) and Country Mouse (moi) LOl.
My recent post Sunday morning this and that
LOL!!! 🙂
Well I hope I don\’t tickle the temptation to go shop.
Mmm. Wings. I love wings. Now that being said… Where's the veggies girlie? o_O
Funny you should ask how I spent my day… I just blogged about it. XD Mine wasn't as productive as yours.
My recent post How I Spent Saturday
Veggies? You mean the corn that the chickens ate?
No veggies. It was a quick dinner and we hadn\’t gone grocery shopping yet. We literally had nothing but rice, chicken, oatmeal and condiments.
My weekend has been pretty low key. I made a test batch of cookies last night (prepping for x-mas gifts), today was some cleaning, a trip to the office for a swim and on my walk to the subway, I ran into a coworker on his way for groceries (he lives near the office), and we chatted for a bit before I continued on my way.
I have also looked at cheesecakes, after a discussion with BF about making cupcakes for his mom’s birthday, watched TV, watched our fish, and went online.
Tomorrow doesn’t look to be any busier. Perhaps a grocery run and laundry. It’s kind of sad when weekends become time for chores.
I love that you made a test batch of cookies 🙂 I assume you and your BF were the testers?
Our weekends are filled with chores too. And planning. I kind of like the slow moving days, and not being rushed.
You BF is definitely an enabler but what an enabler !!!
When we were first married, hubby used to be in a soccer team and after training on a Tuesday night he would often bring home a Chinese takeaway meal for me, just because he knew I loved it, not good for the waistline, but really good for the love life LOL
Lucky me my SIL works for Dior and so I love and use there products on my face religiously, and they are free.
BF also enabled me to think about buying a pair of boots.
He also knows he has to feed me high fat foods because I lose weight really quickly otherwise.
*envy all over my face*
Free products. *Sigh* 🙂
