Holiday Gift Guide for Her: Gifts under $100

Don’t worry, I threw a nice mix of geek and chic in there with some of my own favourite items.

I have a lot of things on the list that are under $50, so don’t be fooled by the title.

2010 LIST OF GIFTS

Apple iPod Shuffle = $49
This would be a great gift because it’s small, light, cute and it will clip onto your clothing for when you’re working out or just walking around town running errands.

Jewellery Stand – $59.95
If she’s a girly girl, she’s going to need something to hang all of her jewellery on. Think of it as being practical, beautiful and a piece of art, all at once!

Kate Spade iPod Touch 3G Case – $35
If she doesn’t already have a case, why not get a super cute one? It’s not that much more expensive than the cases in stores, but the colour and pattern is a refreshing change. A $20 alternative can be found here and here, on See Jane Work.

Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life by Justine Picardie – $26.40
Coco Chanel. Who else, but of Coco can you give a biography of to a fashion lover? This is on my “Must Read” list.

The Jane Necklace by danaleblancdesigns – $64
A bold, chunky necklace that comes in many different colours and is sure to add a pop to any outfit. Not for the faint of heart!

Updated: The coupon code for 20% is FBB2010. It can be used before December 15th 2010.

Obi Belt by FeatherandBean – $38
Adds a nice punch to any outfit. It’s also reversible, so it’s a two-in-one with a plain bronze colour on the other side.

Delicate Petals with Russian Amazonite Earrings by Allison Mooney – $30
Bold and beautiful but still delicate. Makes me think of fairy wings, and they’ll go with any outfit.

Garmin nΓΌvi 205W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator – $93.91
I have the Garmin Nuvi 255W and I ADORE it. This is also a wide-screen (as evidenced by the “W” in the name). It’s such a handy tool for directionally-challenged people such as myself, and I’ve found Garmin to have some of the quickest GPS locators with their satellites and best maps around.

Verbatim Store-and-Go 32GB USB Key – $49.99
This works on both PCs and MACs, but the password protection is only for a PC. 32GB is more than enough space for anyone to backup their important files with, and the password protection is a must. I own this exact USB key, and I like having a USB key that has “public” storage where you don’t need to throw a password on there, and “private” storage that needs a password to access.

Belkin Mini Surge Protector with USB – $24.99
I own this product and love it. If I don’t have a laptop handy, it can be annoying to try and charge your devices that charge via USB, which is why the Belkin comes in handy. It’s also great because it gives you extra plugs in case you’re in a hotel room somewhere and there’s only ONE plug for you to try and charge all of your devices.

Hollywood Fashion Tape – $8.99
For any woman who has ever tried on a shirt only to find this massive gap in between buttons in the bust area, they’re all wishing they had double-stick tape like Hollywood tape. I use this to close up gaps, keep the layers of my clothing together and even to help make a neckline more modest. You can also find alternatives in the drugstore, and I found a similar double-stick tape dispenser for $10CAD at The Bay (or was it Sears?).

Tide-to-Go – $7
I know you’re thinking: Why is this crazy woman suggesting I buy a laundry product as a gift!?

While it isn’t the sexiest present, it is a godsend for those times when you accidentally spill some coffee on your pristine white shirt, or sauce on your pants (*ahem*), Tide-to-Go is an inexpensive clothing saver. It really does remove the stains, and preps the area to keep it ready to be completely cleaned. I once got sticky sweet and sour sauce all over my pants, and I used this pen on it to watch the stain disappear in about 15 minutes. People borrow my pen ALL THE DAMN TIME, so get one for everyone on your list so they’ll stop asking me πŸ˜›

P.S. A great gift basket present would be a “Working Girl’s Survival Kit” for the office. You can also check out an old post of What’s in My Bag too (this has since changed and has to be updated).

Clark’s Revel Hop Sandals – $75.50
These are the most comfortable, beautiful sandals on the market. They’re a high quality as well (Clarks? Hello!! πŸ™‚ ) and in a neutral colour, they go with both pants and skirts. The strap across the ankle also makes sure that it stays on your foot while you’re walking, and the low wedge heel is a must for clumsy, unco-ordinated power walking girls like myself.

Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Lip Salve – $9
I bought 3 tubes of this the last time I found an Urban Outfitters because I love the scent and great moisturizing properties. I prefer the tube version rather than in the pot, because I hate dipping my finger into lip balm.

Galison Accordion Organizer – $9.50
Have someone who wants to stay organized but would rather work on paper? Then a portfolio is what she needs. You can also browse this highly addictive site (See Jane Work) for a whole bunch of colourful file and folder options.

Star Wars Plus Doll $8.99 – $39.99
For the Star Wars fan (or not!) these plush dolls are adorable. I rather like the Chewbacca one, and they come in a range of sizes.

Edible Wild Hibiscus Flowers – $10
For the gourmet chef! I’ve never seen (or tasted) these before, but they look beautiful and tasty to boot.

Caffeine Molecule Necklace – $84.99
An interesting gift for the coffee addict lover, rather than just handing them a plain ol’ mug. (Actually, those Starbucks mugs are a great size.)

iGo Universal Charger
OK I can’t stop myself. I’m a gadget-lover at heart, and this is a charger that I’ve used for quite some time now. I kept losing these chargers and forgetting what each one was for (they take up a lot of room!) and when I found iGo Charger, I realized that if I just lost the tips for my device, it’d only cost $7 to replace a charger rather than $30.

You can also bring it around with you to plug into the car as well if you by the car charger attachment.

I also like the multiple charging options and how minimal it is, especially for traveling with a lot of stuff. One caveat: Their site is an utter hot mess, so I suggest going to Future Shop or Best Buy to buy the charger and the tips required.

Urban Decay Naked Eye Palette – $44
If you can get your paws on it, this would be the ultimate coup for any makeup or neutral-eyeshadow makeup newbie such as myself. Actually, if you score one for a friend, can you send another one my way? πŸ˜›

Collection of Sephora Favourites – $20

Who doesn’t love “The Best of Sephora”?

This set contains:
– 0.338 oz Korres Silicone-Free Vitamin E Face Primer
– 0.0005 oz Tarte EmphasEYES in Black
– 0.1 oz Tarte Lash Hugger
– 0.5 oz Ole Henriksen Truth Serum
– 0.08 oz Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Rose
– 100 Sheets Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens
– 0.17 Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream
– 0.1 oz Plant Love Blush in Peony
– 0.13 oz Josie Maran 100% Organic Argan Oil

If you want to buy a full-sized version of something, or what you see up there doesn’t appeal to you, try Korres White Tea Fluid Cleansing Gel for $21. I am already on my second bottle, which is unheard of for me because I’m a disloyal product purchaser.

On My Own Two Feet: A Modern Girl’s Guide to Personal Finance by Thakor and Kedar – $9.32
Last but not least, seeing as I’m a huge fan of personal finance, if she isn’t already into managing her own money and budgeting, this might be a great book to throw into the mix.

I actually started on “The Millionaire Next Door” and have never read any other PF book that measured up to how that book changed my life, but I can see it being a bit too boring, heavy and data-rich for some.
