So what’s been going on lately? I feel like I haven’t updated everyone on what’s been happening. I miss writing my random life posts.
(ME + BF)
BAD BACK & DIZZINESS. GREAT.
So.. I basically have been bedridden for two weeks. Why? Because I pinched a nerve in my back and couldn’t move.
No walking, no standing.. the works.
To top it off, I get vertigo.
If you don’t know what that is, it is like having motion sickness ON CRACK. It’s making me dizzy just talking about it.
I woke up in the middle of the night, SUPER dizzy, lying still on my back and I had to get up and stumble towards a bathroom for some dry heaving.
Fun.
I’m better now, but those 2 weeks have been hell.
I also did some yoga to get heal my pinched nerve in my back and it has healed beautifully. YAY!
I am still a bit dizzy however. I’m walking slow and eating lightly,
WORK IS GOING GREAT SO FAR
Pressure is heating up but I am not worried. I have deadlines, a schedule and overtime to get it all done.
I’m feeling restless however, like waiting for the other shoe to drop which is strange as this is THE BEST project I have ever been on.
BF & I ARE BORED
It has finally happened. We are bored in a city.
There is nothing fun to do here and even if we could pay, there is nothing fun to do.
Even walking downtown and being among people is boring in this city.
Yawn.
To drum up some semblance of fun, BF has taken to making me gourmet lunches and meals, so I’m a happy camper.
I’ve thrown myself into blogging instead.
Free + Fun. Win win.
…BUT I AM STILL SUPER HAPPY AND CONTENT
Happy as a clam.
So what if I hurt my back (I will be so careful from now on), got vertigo and am BORED in a city?
Pish posh. Boring, bourgeois whining, really. (“Bla bla bla BLA STFU FB!”)
I have so much more to be thankful for:
- I have my overall health and use of all my limbs (*heart*)
- BF is here with me and toughing out the boredom x 1 billion
- I have a great Asia Trip to look forward to in 2011
- Am eating great homemade food cooked with love
- I don’t need to trek down to the basement to do laundry (ensuite!)
- No need to do dishes either (ensuite dishwasher!)
- Am on a solid contract with a great team & good money
Best of all?
I don’t have a need or want for anything I cannot obtain.
And that is the best thing to be most thankful for.
ME + BF
I am definitely the fatter one on the left from all the great food lately.
WHAT ARE YOU HAPPY & THANKFUL FOR THIS WEEK?
Sorry you haven't been feeling well 🙁 I like this sort of post much better, even though you're not at 100%.
Awww glad to hear you are feeling better! I am thankful for my health and the health of those close to me.
Happy to read something sunny and warm. I'm looking forward to Asia trip too. I hope you blog about the trip and of course THE FOOD!.
My recent post One Disaster Away
The food is the main thing I blog about 😛
I think I\’ll be the more adventurous one, whereas BF will stick to something simple.
Sorry to read about your vertigo and pinched nerve! Boredom sucks…where are you going to in Asia?
2011! I\’m heading to Tokyo, Kyoto, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore.
oh you poor thing, vertigo is awful! hope you feel better soon. I think getting BF to cook ( and clean!) is a good idea. make the most of it while you can. 🙂
I'm grateful for having a job and a paycheck again!
Luckily with the super high rent I am paying here, I don\’t need to clean. 🙂 We have a dishwasher and a maid comes once a week although I haven\’t let her in yet (we aren\’t slobs).
He loves to cook so I\’m thrilled he\’s taking over.
I'm happy to have some of these midterms done and over with. Not that I don't have other things to do, but tests always seem like more pressure than papers for some reason. Hope your back feels better.
My back is much better now. It\’s just my vertigo I have to contend with at the moment!
Congrats on the midterms being over. I hear you about the pressure — I am the same way.
Get well soon, FB!
You and the BF sound too cute, what a sweetheart for making all those lovely lunches. 😉
PS, Gravol knocks me out, too. I can be taking the normal one, and I'll be out for a good few hours. Funny story: I was traveling in South East Asia and about to get on boat ride along the MeKong River, so I popped a Gravel. The last time, I was on a boat, I was so motion sick that I wanted to throw up. Anyway, it turns out that the boat ride down the river was beautiful, and I was falling all over myself because I couldn't stay awake.
Thank you!
He is a real sweetheart. He\’s trying to make me eat more food by cooking more recipes and enticing my appetite. It\’s working, somewhat…
LOL!!! That\’s something I don\’t want to do 🙁 Miss out on tourism just because of my motion sickness. I wonder if I can take half a pill or a quarter. It seems too much for me.
Just catching up on my RSS feed after a crazy week–sounds like you’ve had a couple of doozies too!
I am a big believer in counting my blessings as a pick-me-up. Gratitude is way underrated. I like where your head’s at.
Thanks 🙂
I\’m generally pretty optimistic and happy for everything. I know I have more than what others have.
Those kitty pictures are adorable. Your pinched nerve sounds awful. Have you looked into acupuncture treatments? It might help relieve some of that vertigo and nausea. Good luck with your healing and hopefully you won't be bored for too much longer!
My recent post Has Anyone Ever Won Home Depot’s 5K Gift Card
I\’ve already done yoga stretches and exercises, which has helped my back tremendously!!
Ugh I'm sorry to hear about your back but glad its not holding you back from your deadlines! The bf sounds like a keeper 😉
My team is really chill. I just VPN in from the hotel room on my back and have the phone beside me. They\’re great
And BF is a TOTAL keeper.
After my spine injury and pinched nerve, I now have the case of vertigo once and a while. It sucks.
It definitely sucks. I gave in and took Gravol, but I slept most of the day to pay the price (it really knocks me out)
Ugh, I had vertigo once, it was awful. I'm glad you are feeling better.
What am I happy and thankful for? Oh you just NAME it right now! Truly, I am happier than I have been in the last couple of years. I am moving home next week and I can't wait! Good friends waiting for me, the beautiful Black Hills, and several lovely men who have been flirting lately. Makes me feel all girly 'n' stuff 😀 I'm just happy and I quite like it!
That is fabulous! I love hearing that your life is amazing. I feel the same way, my years just get better and better.
I'm sorry to hear about your back – I hope you get back to full strength and health soon. Bored in the city huh? Thank God for the internet then :).
I love that – no want/need for anything you cannot obtain. *sigh* I can't wait to get to that place!
OH MY GOODNESS. I would just waste away without the internet. I\’ve been literally on my back the whole time, unable to move.
🙂 I am definitely at that stage of utter contentment. Hang in there.
After my spine injury and pinched nerve, I now have the case of vertigo once and a while. It sucks.
Feel better!
"I’m feeling restless however, like waiting for the other shoe to drop which is strange as this is THE BEST project I have ever been on"
Oh man…I feel that way about my current project…like it's going TOO well and I'm afraid I'll screw up. Lol.
Same here. It\’s…. very strange to have everything go so smoothly.
Oh well, it's a much better problem to have than being stuck in an awful job. A much, much better problem. I'm grateful.
Sorry to hear about the health stuff, though. 🙁 Hope you are feeling better, and it isn't too hard sticking to comfy shoes for the back!
Hahaha I only pinched the nerve by doing stupid things to my back. I\’m a lot more careful but I never wear heels over 2\” anyway, and only for 8 hours.
Awww.. Those kitty pictures are so cute! Glad to hear you are on the mend, you and BF are so blessed to have eachother.
And BTW theres a bunch of broken pictures below the post, working on the blog again?
Yeah I\’m breaking the blog again 🙂 Trying to add a related posts plugin with thumbnails but I can\’t get it to work!
Vertigo Sucks!!! I get it about twice a year, and it puts me on my back in a dark room with no sound or smells. Even the slightest movement or odor will make me queasy!
I am thankful for my health, my ability to still get up at 4 am and go to the gym to maintain my health. I am thankful for my family, (two legged and four legged). I have no complaints!
PS you have a beautiful blog 🙂
My recent post Transition
I got a mild case of it, nothing awful where I couldn\’t handle it. Am doping myself with dramamine right now (Gravol) 🙂
Thank you for the compliment!
I'm curious which city you're in that is so boring? Or if it's small and you don't really want to share your location, are you still Quebec or have you moved to Ontario? And what is it that makes it boring? I've lived in a lot of places and to me, what makes a city boring is not having my social network nearby.
Glad to hear your backs better.
I,m happy and glad to be babysitting my 3 Gorgeous Grandchildren while there parents are off to a Wedding. It means that tonight all the hugs and kisses are mine.
AWwwww! 🙂 Hugs and Kisses. I love that.
Sorry to hear about your back and vertigo! Sounds grim. Glad to hear you have a lovely partner to help you through it all. Me… a) Yesterday I had a good day out walking around Newcastle with a friend; b) My UK tax return is finished. I owe tax, but at least the paperwork is done; c) It's the weekend and Bill is home with me instead of at work (though he's about to go out and do a cross-country race in the mud, a very silly thing for a 62-year old to do, don't you think?). Get well soon!
That walk sounds wonderful. Very relaxing.
I just hate filling out the tax papers.. that\’s the worst. Even worse is doing the corporation taxes ARG!
*laugh* I think it is definitely silly for a 62-year old man to do but if he is fit and willing, I say wow 🙂 I\’m impressed.
