Following Asian Pear and Financial Catastrophizer‘s leads, this is where I’ve been so far:
Visited 5 states (2.22%) — These is the rough list of countries and cities
- Toronto, Canada

- Ottawa, Canada
- Boston, USA
- New York City, USA
- Chicago, USA
- San Francisco, USA
- Dallas, USA
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Paris, France

- London, England
And by 2011, my map will look like this:
Visited 9 states (4%)
Adding the following countries & cities in 2011. I think the trip will cost $10,000 each, but we’ll try and cap it at $5000 – $7000.
Our trip will hit all of the following cities in 6 weeks:
- Tokyo, Japan
- Kyoto, Japan
- Beijing, China
- Shanghai, China
- Hong Kong
- Macau
- Singapore
- Malaysia
Some other countries I might like to visit someday.
- Italy
- Spain
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- Brazil
What about you?
that’s way too much money to spend for just 6 months of traveling
6 weeks I mean
IΒ΄ve been to Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria,Switzerland, France, Liechtenstein, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and the USA.
No Vietnam? or Indonesia?
I don\’t have enough money to go to all of those countries too π I\’m trying to keep to a $10k budget and flight tickets suck up $5k, and the rest is for hotel, food, entertainment and shopping.
I've never actually spent the night outside of the US, unless you count being on cruises in the Caribbean…I've been on day trips to Canada and Mexico, and stopped in the Bahamas on a cruise. Now that I realize that I've never spent the night out of the country, that seems kind of weird, and a little sad, haha.
I did spend a lot of time traveling in the United States when I was a kid, I've lived in 3 states and visited 30 others. I would like to visit the rest of the states sometime, but 30 seems like quite a few for being in my early 20s.
My husband really wants to visit Japan, and I think it would be cool too. I'd also just really like to travel out of North America!
We probably won't do much traveling until we pay off our student debt, but I guess some new states are possible before then because my husband has family in a few states I've never visited, and we might be able to visit them for cheap!
Japan is another world to me. I can't wait to go. I'm obsessed with the country.
I've been to:
International:
Argentina
Israel
Canada
France
Holland
Germany
US:
California
Missouri
Kansas
Nevada
New York
New Jersey
Connecticut
Delaware
Georgia
D.C
Virginia
Maryland
Florida
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Pennsylvania
I am MUCH more travelled within the states than internationally (I'm 25-so I do plan to see ALOT in the next 20 years. India is next on my list-long trip and lots of money to start saving)
I have been to 30 US states, 1 Candadian province (well, actually two but I was a baby for the first one so I don't count it), Israel, Mexico, St. Martin, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, British West Indies, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Jordan, and Jamaica.
I want to go to every country that doesn't want to kill me for being there.
LOL!!!! Canada is definitely friendly to everyone. π
I am not too worried about Canada. I worry more about places like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Algeria.
Come visit New Zealand! π
I\’d like to. It looks BEAUTIFUL!
Only been to the US and Mexico, we could see into Canada on our last vacation but could not cross due to bureaucratic red tape with getting C's Native American passport π
US States I've been to on the other hand: 18 by motorcycle. 4 more by plane. Still have a lot more states to go, enough to keep us occupied for many years to come.
I want to see Germany and Austria one day and maybe a trip from coast to coast across Canada for honeymoon π
I live for travel and when I first started out, got in to a bit of debt related to it. Reading your blog helped!
Now I'm free of that and starting on my trip around the world. I've quit my job and will officially leave LA in November to travel the world for 1-2 years. You can follow me on my blog http://youwishyouwerehere.wordpress.com/ or if you're on twitter @glorialin.
Here's me so far…
1.November 9-17: Samoa (7 days, free stopover to NZ)
2.November 18-22: Tonga (4 days, free stopover to NZ)
3.November 22-January 11, 2011: New Zealand (50 days, North and South Island)
4. January 11-17: Australia (6 days, Perth)
5.January 17 – February ?: Indonesia (3-4 weeks)
After this I have not booked anything else but will today or this week will book Indonesia to Singapore to Malaysia to Sri Lanka to India. I didn't want want to plan so much but I want to try to meet up with some people and may need to alter some plans.
After India, I'm wanting to go to Nepal, Tibet, South East Asia, contemplating Bangladesh and Burma, probably skipping the Philippines (I really want to go but would probably want to go for a while and not sure if I will have the time if I want to attempt to make Oktoberfest 2011 and miss the Trans-Sib in the dead of winter), China, Mongolia, Russia, Scandinavia, and Germany, roughly in that order.
My brother is also kind of blowing up in Shanghai and I kind of want to go there for a while now. He's throwing parties and seems like a bit of a success. http://the-ice-cream-truck.com/ Curating a dance stage at a music festival. I wish I was there already. haha. I'm also interested in living in Berlin for a few months.
I am looking at 1-2 years away, possibly even more if I go to Africa and the Middle East.
Prior to this trip, I have traveled to 36 countries. I have not cheated by listing places where I have only been in the airport (South Korea). But I have included places that aren’t technically countries, but are geographically or culturally unique (i.e. Taiwan). I'll be updating my blog with my countries info soon!
Thank you for your wonderful comment.

I did the obligatory post-college backpack around Europe thing, so I have most of those covered. But the funny thing is, I've never been to Canada. In my defense though, I did grow up in Arizona. I would love to go to Iceland someday. And I'm way jealous of your trip to Japan!
