In case you missed the previous posts:
- Packing for a long weekend getaway
- Packing for a weeklong business casual trip
- Packing for 3+ weeks or for the long-term
——————————————————————-
3 things I keep in mind when I pack
- I keep a list of what I need and follow it each time I travel
- ….but I can always buy what I forgot to pack or bring
- And I can always borrow my sister/family/friend’s stuff
Note: These item recommendations are slightly outdated.
I am now using:
- Korres White Tea Fluid Gel as my facial cleanser
- Korres Rose SPF 6 Moisturizer as my day moisturizer
- Skyn Iceland Cream as my night time moisturizer
Such a nice post and so many useful tips. I am moving to California in two months and after the moving company takes the stuff I will be packing my things for the flying, so big thanks!
I was trying to find the travel sheet thing that I saw, looked like a white sleeping bag kind of thing. Where is that and what do you call it?
Hi FB, thanks for your great packing series, on this blog and your other two (that’s a lot of work, kudos to you!). You and I have a lot of the same beauty faves…
I have two questions for you, help!
1) how do you use coconut oil as conditioner? Do you put it on (damp?) hair pre-shampoo, or post-shampoo, like regular conditioner?
2) how do you keep your night hair-bun from falling out during the night? I used to do that to create waves in my hair, but gave up b/c it kept falling out…have to use the curling iron, which taxes my time!
Advice?
Thanks and I love your blogs, I love the Canadian content, esp. your post on Shopper’s 20x points events! 🙂
*cheapo hotel shampoo doubles as a lingerie/sox washing agent. (i often use it at home to clean tubs/sinks . )
*stick antiperspirant works just as well as blister blocker and is less expensive.
*in a pinch, gas permeable contacts can be rinsed in shampoo.
LOVE your blog. You continue to inspire!
Good point!
It’s a great in-a-pinch solution.
Note: some of the hotels/motels I stay in, don’t offer shampoo in little bottles.
At any rate, I personally feel better if I bring my own green detergent, rather than using a little bottle of shampoo that is something else that will get tossed in the garbage.
haha. thanks for this… as I'm packing for my Montreal trip tomorrow.
Uhh… any chance you can speed up the electronics post before I leave on Friday. 😉
I always take my travel dryer with me even if the hotel has one… you don't know what is lurking in the one on the wall.
I also swear by the blister stick, it's saved me a lot of blisters over the three years I've been using it. Great tip about the tape, I'll have to take that with me on my trip.
Your tips have been really, really great!
Good point. If you need it, bring it!
I just let my hair air dry… it (luckily) isn’t fussy.
Oh and the primer. I got a sample from Sephora and now I am hooked. My foundation has never looked so amazing! It's almost air brushed on!
Yippie!! 🙂
Primers are really amazing things. I never knew just a drop of that liquid could make such a difference. I’ve gone with and without, and I always prefer with it on.
Yes… primers are amazing. I don't know how I lived without it!
ps isnt molokai DCed? I ask cause I think that was the colour I received from Icoke points…but gave away. Guess you have backups of your favourties?? 🙂
Yes.. it is discontinued 🙁
I just found out when I went searching for it.
*sigh* I’ll have to switch to a new brand anyway. Maybe Tarte or Josie Maran, as it’s friendlier.
I need to pack a pair of earplug into my general MUbag. I have been caught on the old trains in Toronto a few too many times recently, and those things are crazy loud :T Plus the crying babies. I know mothers can't do much, but it would be nice if some of them tried. I saw a woman that just kept reading her magazine while her kid cried :T
I'm really enjoying the 'Travel Series'. It's really informative and I love seeing the actual pics of the stuff you pack.
Thanks! 🙂 It varies from time to time, trip to trip.. but the general guidelines are there, even if the brands aren’t always the same.
