I guess they taste better when they’re made fresh because all of these indian desserts I tried, tasted like sugary, textured chickpeas ground and shaped into blocks and shapes.
The long rectangular ones taste a bit like dulce de leche (which gives me a slight headache)
One word: MEH.
I don’t think I’d eat them again. Portuguese tarts are where it’s at. With a slight hint of lemon, creaminess, not too sweet, with a pastry shell, how can we go wrong?
Everyone (especially Aicha):
It tastes awful when it isn`t fresh. I had one that tasted like a sponge soaked in rose-sugar water. It was… really .. disturbing and we tossed it because it was just awful.
The rest was okay, but.. a bit too chalky.
Being an Indian I think I can safely say that most ‘mithai’, especially fresh, does not taste like crap. =D
Of course there are many different kinds (and most are not to my taste).
Anyway, I’m a regular reader of your blog and I think you’re doing a great job. Thanks for all the good reads!
Well, at least you tried something different. The second one does look tastier.
I’ve never developed a taste for Indian sweets either.
Owh yes. Indian desserts are laden with Sugar. I can never eat one without having a toothache.
I never go near them anymore for fear of getting diabetes.
