Good thing I’m thinking about moving to the States soon. I gotta get crackin’ on some of these!
What a cool list! I’ve tried quite a bit of stuff on there. I don’t do seafood or weird animal parts, but I’ve had just about everything else.
Sounds like you need to come visit, FB! I have a mom and mom-in-law that’ll introduce you to a lot of that stuff, like pimiento cheese sandwiches, fried green tomatoes, sweet potato pie with marshmallows (the only way to have it), grits, chicken fried steak, green bean casserole, cornbread, collards, silver queen corn, hoppin’ john, buttermilk biscuits, etc. Plus my mom-in-law makes pumpkin fritters that are out of this world — like pumpkin pie flavored Krispy Kremes!
North Florida home cooking isn’t that different from low country Carolinas in my experience, but it’s not the sort of thing they serve in a lot of restaurants here (which is how you know it’s authentic, lol). And while you’re down south, you have to have moon pies, muscadine grapes, and pork cracklin’s ; )
Buffalo is actually getting quite common (at least in the states), though you have to look for it. I had some in South Dakota. It’s alright, but a bit lean and dry like deer.
And please, for the love of god and girl scouts, get some thin mints! I can eat an entire box in one sitting.
Chica with issues, I’m from FL. I don’t think our Cracker Barrels sell RC Cola. 🙂
Karen – ever been to the South? I’m from Tennessee and the whole MoonPie and RC Cola thing is a staple there. Seriously. If you’re ever driving through Nashville, just stop at a Cracker Barrel restaurant and you can buy both 🙂
North Carolina pig pickin’ – GAG!
I posted mine on my blog. Fun meme!
Mmmmmmmmm, pastrami on rye, one of my favorites… I will so have to try to find a great corner deli when the husband and I spend our day in NYC this winter…
Auburn: On your To Do list right?
Ethidium: OHhhhh!!
Dog: Got it 🙂
Michelle: Good idea!
Anon: You are SO far ahead of me!
Saving: I want lobster now too. Thanks other FB 😛
I like all of these food lists I do. There is so much I haven’t tried!
I think there’s about 30 things I haven’t heard of before. And judging by the “black and white cookie”, it’s obviously many regional foods!
WTF MoonPie washed down with R.C. Cola Ok, we may produce these 2 but it’s it really a staple somewhere?
FB, your list totally has me craving some lobster!!
Maine is only an hour’s drive away from where I live…maybe I’ll make a foodie trek this weekend 😉
-Bacon
I have eaten 64 out of the 100.
I need to head down south to eat the rest!!
What a fun meme. I think I’ll do this soon myself.
Wow, I think I’ve eaten all but a handful of these.
A black and white cookie is NOT an Oreo. You can buy them at delis and grocery stores in NYC and New England.
Re: number 48 —
FYI — a black and white cookie is so not and Oreo. It is a New York deli staple, and everyone should try one.

I love this list!! I’m going to have to do it sometime…
