Today I got a lot of compliments.
I didn’t do anything special to my hair.
I didn’t wear makeup.
I didn’t dress up.
So why did I get complimented? Because I wore my hair down.
I normally wear it up in a tight bun with a headband (best for working, less flipping and adjusting required), but today I wore it down and it ended up being a bit wavy/curly.
EVERYONE noticed, and one of my colleagues even commented: “I was wondering who that was, I didn’t even recognize you, I was just thinking: OMG who is that new babe!?”
I guess the best way to blow them out of the water with no hair treatments or makeup is to lower the expectations SO LOW that when you finally emerge looking ‘normal’, it’s a huge improvement. LOL!
Val: It wasn’t just down.. it was wavy and all sex kitten like
I have yet to see one woman who doesn’t look gorgeous with their hair down. I’ll bet you looked wonderful!
team gingerbread: I didn’t think of it being as a “Yea, I DID SO go to the gym today!!!” LOL
mamaluv: My bars are very very low so when I knock ’em out, I KNOCK THEM OUT.. it’s a good cheap plan LOL
That’s hilarious! My husband follows the same principle for dates/gifts. Keep the bar good and low, so that on the rare occasions he goes above and beyond, he gets way more mileage out of it.
Great post!
Too true, that’s my work strategy as well. The one day I was wearing makeup, my boss thought I went for a jog on my lunch break. I had to break it to him that it was blush…
